This Week in Carmel

This week in Carmel, our community mood is a mixed bag, reflecting both positive developments and somber news. On the bright side, there's excitement brewing with the possibility of a new motorsports-themed luxury hotel from Veloce considering our area. Local heritage is also being celebrated with the uncovering of the story of Mount Carmel's founder. Our young athletes are shining, with Yi Zheng from Carmel setting an impressive swimming record. Community spirit is evident in the ShopRite's successful fundraising effort to combat hunger, and it's wonderful to hear our senior residents are staying connected through technology. However, there are concerning reports from Mount Carmel regarding juveniles charged in an arson incident. Additionally, the fire that damaged the meditation hall and part of the library in Carmel Valley brings sadness to our neighbours. On a personal note, we extend our deepest condolences to the loved ones of Alison Carmel Gilberthorpe, Carmel McCann (née Hughes), and Carmel Jenkins (née O’Halloran) who have recently passed away. Finally, there's news of a conviction in the armed robbery at our local CVS, which, while a resolution, still stems from a concerning event.
